ACE Schools Climate Action Plan

ACE Schools Climate Action Plan

At ACE Schools we are committed to playing our part in tackling climate change and building a sustainable future. Our Climate Action Plan (CAP) is a working document and sets out how we will reduce our environmental impact, strengthen sustainability in our curriculum, and inspire pupils to become responsible global citizens. The CAP covers four key areas:

    1. Decarbonisation (measure/reduce emissions; energy efficiency; heat/solar where feasible)

    2. Adaptation & resilience (overheating, flood risk, continuity of learning

    3. Biodiversity & estates (link to the National Education Nature Park

    4. Curriculum, culture & engagement (pupil voice, staff habits, procurement/travel)

While many of our sites are rented buildings with limited control over large-scale estates projects, we are working creatively with staff, pupils and partners to make positive change. This includes:

  • Embedding sustainability themes across the Three Strand Curriculum, from specialist subjects to personal development and preparation for adulthood.

  • Encouraging pupil-led projects that promote environmental awareness, recycling and community action.

  • Reducing energy use where possible and advocating for sustainable practices in partnership with landlords and local authorities.

  • Reviewing our travel, procurement and resource use to make more environmentally responsible choices.

  • Strengthening biodiversity and green space where feasible across our sites.

Our aim is for every pupil to leave ACE with an understanding of sustainability and the confidence to take action in their own lives and communities.
