Theatre Trip to Metamorphosis

Last month, staff at ACE Bretonside, attended a production of ‘Metamorphosis’ with two students studying for their Bronze Arts Award.

Part B of the Arts Award requires students to be a member of the audience and this was the performance that they selected to watch, study and review.  Scott Graham directed the production, adapted by Lemn Sissay OBE.  Scott is the founder of Frantic Assembly, a physical theatre company based in London, who have also delivered teacher training at TR2 in Cattedown, supporting teachers delivering this to their drama students across the south west.  I took part in this CPD and have been working with the students to develop chair duets and explore movement to communicate with an audience.  A ‘Touch Tour’ was available to sign up to before the actual performance, which our students found to be an excellent ‘hook’ into the story, leading them to ask questions and consider the use of staging and props in the performance even before the curtain went up.  A truly inspirational visit to the theatre, enjoyed and appreciated by the ACE students who attended
